target=_blank opening in two windows
So here is a puzzling issue I ran into recently, and it drove me NUTS!
PROBLEM: You're working in Drupal. You've got some items setup as target=_blank as you want them to open in a new window. Maybe you've even gone as far as I went and wrote some jquery to automatically make external links open in a new window. You then go to click on a link, and for some reason the link is opening in your current window, AND a new window. It's opening in the parent window and another window, or it's a duplicate opening... call it what you want... you're getting two, and it's just not cutting it.
SOLUTION: Believe it or not, this problem has a somewhat simple solution. It relates to having the google analytics module installed, and having it set to track outbound links. Google analytics tracks outbound links by piggy backing them much the same as .live('click',...) does. So, you can't use stopPorpogate, stopEarlyPropogate, return false... none of that works, and it will boggle your mind forever. It's all because google analytics already has grabbed it, and your code won't co-exist. The solution: Remove the google analytics setting for tracking outbound links.
