So you want a page.tpl.php by path huh? It's not easy, but it's doable!
First off, go to your template folder, and make sure you've got a template.php file that is working right for your theme. Don't know how? Go find out and come back!
Next up, you need to add a preprocess function in there to get the path, and then based on the path, get the page.tpl.php! How do you do this? While, this code is it:
How to make this work for you:
First off, just add this code, and replace YOURTHEMENAME with the machine name of your theme. Once that's done, go to whatever page is giving you the trouble, and then remove the //'s (un-comment) from the code. When you refresh the page, you'll get a print out of the array. From there, you use the variable to determine which page.tpl.php to use by path.
In my example above, I used path[1] as I wanted anything with a path of "/kids/whatever/foo/" to use the page-teens page.tpl.php file. I also did the same to get the page.tpl.php by path for the teens section on my site, which goes "/teens/whatever/foo".
So, a simple solution that works great!
